Today is all I need

Today, I mark another earth’s rotation around the sun.

Today, I am grateful for the smell of fresh flowers awaiting me this morning.

Today, I smile as I check my Facebook timeline, reading all the well wishes and greetings.

Today, I redeem all the free drink and food coupons.

Today, I listen as my youngest serenades me with her version of the song we hear a million times once a year.

Today, I reach out to someone like I have for the past 29 years.

Today, I cringe as I utter the new number which represents my life.

Today, I weep over the absence of a loved one from my world and imagine their voice.

Today, I think back on all the years and how not only the world has changed, but most importantly how much I have changed.

Tomorrow is coming, but for now, Today is all I need.
